In this series of self-portraits, I took inspiration from artists of the '60s and '70s. I borrowed from Ellsworth Kelly, Leo Valledor, French new wave design and hard-edge paintings. I wove these influences together with the hope of capturing the viewer’s eye with vivid use of colors and patterns. This body of work represents a distinct departure for me. In the past, I had been so enthralled with editorial fashion photography and influenced by present-day photographers that it became creatively stifling. This new body of work has opened an exciting new avenue of exploration for me. They are no longer just portraits. They are an immersion with art from a point in time that fascinates me.
